“I’m the captain of the guard. I’m loyal, strong, and I don’t look too bad naked.” “Exactly. And if I called you a mannish, awkward, ball-crushing do-gooder, you’d say?” “Shut up, whore.” “That’s my girl.”

"Oh uhm. IS that everything? Actually, no it isn't. I wanted to ask you how you were? I mean, we're around one another quite a lot but we don't really DELVE into things. Not like we used to. How is Donnic? The work as Captain? Just /things/ in general?"
"… I’m fine, Hawke. Everything’s fine.“
Her tone seemed to soften ever so slightly at the personal inquiry. Any other person would’ve missed the subtle change completely, but Aveline and Hawke had spent enough time together that even the most obscure of their mannerisms never went unnoticed.
”The city, however, is still struggling. These past few nights, there have been thefts at the shops in Hightown, and for whatever reason, my men have been unable to stop them. It’s as though the criminal commits the crimes right beneath their noses. Admittedly, they are new recruits, but still…“
She paused and bit down onto her lower lip, choosing her next words carefully.
”I know it would be rather… presumptuous of me to ask, but– is there any way that you could check it out? I’d feel much safer knowing that someone I trust is looking out for these men.“
"Wow someone's a bit touchy this morning. Look, I /know/ you have a job to do but I REALLY need her out. Now. Lots to talk about you know. Important things. Please?? Just this once and I WONT bother you again."
"But you’re bothering me now, Hawke.“
The irritation in her voice, while practically oozing from her lips, carried no hint of malice. She’d never intentionally be cruel or spiteful towards Hawke; no, she’d come to care far too much for the young mage to direct her frustrations where they didn’t belong.
After a long silence, she let out a sigh – and by the sound of it, she was admitting defeat.
”… I can make no promises, but I’ll see what I can do. Is that all?“
